Civilian and armed security guard courses are by appointment.

Required online pre-registration, a deposit may be required to reserve your seat.

Course Overview:  Any Maryland resident who can legally own a handgun, who submits an application to Maryland State Police, successfully completes the required 16 hour Handgun Carry Permit Training Course and passes a background check Shall Be Issued a Maryland Handgun Carry Permit.

Students will leave with an understanding of carry procedures, legal issues and use of force.

Course Length:  (2 days) 16 hours total initial, or (1 day) 8 hours renewal

• Pistol Parts and Operation
• Ammunition knowledge and selection
• Cleaning and Maintenance
• Holster selection
• Maryland Firearms Laws
• Use of Deadly Force
• Mindset
• Interactions with law enforcement

Range Instruction : 

• Live Fire Session  
• Demonstrate Safety principals  
•  Demonstrate Marksmanship Skills
• Students must Shoot a qualification course of fire 70% rating to qualify.

 Include it with the course:  Range time , Eye protection , Hearing protection, Qualification sheet, targets and  semiautomatic pistol and ammunition.

NOT included with the course:  Required LiveScand  finger prints and ammunition.
